This is because increased blood flow and mechanical stimulation from daily use accelerate nail growth. Nails also grow faster in summer (warmth increases circulation), during pregnancy, and on the middle finger compared to other fingers. The fastest-growing nail is typically the middle finger; the slowest is the thumbnail. Nails grow about 3–4 times faster than toenails.
