World War One technically ended financially in 2010 when Germany made its final reparation payment

🤷 This changes nothingFact Battle

The Treaty of Versailles in 1919 imposed enormous war reparations on Germany — 132 billion gold marks. Germany made payments throughout the Weimar era, stopped during the Nazi period, and the payments were restructured under the London Debt Agreement of 1953. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and German reunification raised the question of who was responsible for pre-war debts. Germany's final reparation payment of €69.9 million was made on October 3, 2010 — the 20th anniversary of German reunification. 91 years after the armistice, World War One was financially settled.

Why this is surprising

A war that ended in 1918 was not fully paid for until 2010. People who watched WWI footage on YouTube lived to see Germany make its last debt payment from that conflict.
