Am I Normal?thoughts
Time seems to speed up as I get older
Time acceleration with age is a well-documented psychological effect. One leading explanation: as a proportion of your total life, each year becomes smaller (at 5, one year is 20% of your life; at 50, it's 2%). Another factor: novel experiences are encoded with more neural detail than routine ones, and life becomes more routine with age, making less time feel remembered.

Children experience more 'firsts' per year than adults — first day of school, first holiday, first friend. Each novel experience creates a denser memory trace, making those years feel longer in retrospect.
